Description
The Colorpath Cardy is a playful take on the classic drop-shoulder cardigan. Slightly cropped and worked in all-over stockinette stitch, this design features bold blocks of four contrasting colours across the lower body and one sleeve along with a contrasting colour on the hem, cuff and front band ribbing. Whether you’re new to intarsia or a seasoned knitter, the step-by-step instructions make the colorwork approachable and fun. With ribbed hems, a buttoned front, and a seamless construction, this cardigan strikes the perfect balance between style and ease.
Designed for The Fibre Co.’s &Make DK, a beautiful blend of Peruvian Highland wool, alpaca, and linen, the Colorpath Cardy offers both warmth and a soft, elegant drape. The natural fibres create a breathable fabric that’s ideal for layering, making it the perfect year-round companion. Add a splash of colour to your wardrobe with this versatile piece that’s as fun to knit as it is to wear.
Yarn:
The Fibre Co. &Make DK (55% Highland wool, 35% alpaca, 10% linen, 125 m (137 yd) per 50 g ball) in shades Careless Whisper (A) – 5 (6, 6, 7, 7) (8, 9, 10, 11) balls, Mille Pink (B) – 2 (2, 2, 3, 3) (3, 3, 3, 4) balls, Borealis Bash (C) – 1 ball (all sizes), Hyper Blue (D) – 1 ball (all sizes) and Mellow Yellow (E) – 1 (1, 1, 1, 1) (1, 1, 2, 2) ball(s).
Construction notes:
The Colorpath Cardy is a seamless, flat-knit cardigan featuring vibrant Intarsia colour blocks. It begins with a contrast-colour ribbed hem, transitioning to stockinette stitch in the main colour. The lower body incorporates four contrast colours, and the piece is divided at the armholes to shape the fronts and back separately. Short rows shape the shoulders, which are joined with a Three-Needle Bind-Off. Sleeves are knit flat from the cuff up, with one sleeve featuring matching Intarsia blocks. After seaming the sleeves, a contrast ribbed edging is added to the fronts and neckline, with buttonholes incorporated.
